Ishibashi Auto Tagger

Ishibashi Auto Tagger manages Obsidian frontmatter tags from note folder paths. It is designed for folder-first vaults where moving a note should refresh only the tags inferred from its folder while preserving manually added tags.

Usage

Enable the plugin and configure folder rules from Obsidian settings.

The default behavior is:

• New notes receive tags inferred from their folder path.
• Moved notes receive tags inferred from the new folder path.
• Tags inferred from the previous folder are removed when replacement is enabled.
• Tags that were manually added by you or another plugin are kept.

Use the tag preview in settings to test a path such as:

Settings

• Language: Choose English or Japanese for settings and notices.
• Enable automatic tagging: Turn event-based tagging on or off.
• Tag new notes: Add tags when a Markdown file is created.
• Tag moved or renamed notes: Refresh tags when a Markdown file moves or is renamed.
• Replace old folder tags on move: Remove tags inferred from the previous folder while preserving manual tags.
• Archive folder: Top-level folder that receives the archive tag instead of normal folder tags.
• Archive tag: Tag added to notes under the archive folder.
• Ignore year folders: Skip folders such as 2026.
• Remove numeric ordering prefixes: Treat number_title as the standard format. For example, 4_Project notes and 03-4_Project notes both generate Project-notes.
• Tag preview: Check generated tags for a sample note path.
• Excluded folders: Folders and descendants that should not be tagged.
• Custom tag names: Optional exception rules. Most folder names are handled by automatic cleanup, such as removing numeric prefixes.

Compatibility

This plugin updates the tags frontmatter field. It does not overwrite note bodies, file names, aliases, or unrelated frontmatter fields.

When a manually added tag has exactly the same value as a tag inferred from the previous folder, the plugin cannot distinguish their origin and treats it as folder-derived during replacement.

If you also use a web clipper or another note creation plugin, let that plugin add its own initial tags and use Ishibashi Auto Tagger for folder-derived tags.

使い方

プラグインを有効化し、Obsidian設定からフォルダルールを調整します。

標準の動作:

• 新規ノートにはフォルダパスから推定したタグを付けます。
• 移動したノートには移動先フォルダから推定したタグを付けます。
• 置き換え設定が有効な場合、移動前フォルダから推定したタグだけを削除します。
• 手動で追加したタグや他プラグイン由来のタグは残します。

設定画面のタグ生成プレビューでは、次のような一般的なパスで結果を確認できます。

設定項目

• 言語: 設定画面と通知の表示言語を選びます。
• 自動タグ付けを有効にする: イベントによる自動実行をオン/オフします。
• 新規ノート作成時にタグ付け: Markdownファイル作成時にタグを付けます。
• 移動・リネーム時にタグ付け: Markdownファイルの移動・リネーム時にタグを更新します。
• 移動時に旧フォルダ由来タグを置き換える: 手動タグを残し、移動前フォルダ由来タグだけを削除します。
• アーカイブフォルダ: 通常フォルダタグではなくアーカイブタグを付けるトップレベルフォルダです。
• アーカイブタグ: アーカイブフォルダ配下のノートへ追加するタグです。
• 年フォルダをタグ化しない: 2026 のような年フォルダをスキップします。
• 並び順を示す数字の接頭辞を除去: 数字_タイトル を基本形式とし、4_プロジェクト資料 と 03-4_プロジェクト資料 はどちらも プロジェクト資料 タグになります。
• タグ生成プレビュー: サンプルパスから生成されるタグを確認します。
• 除外フォルダ: 自動タグ付けしないフォルダと配下を指定します。
• カスタムタグ名: 例外用の任意ルールです。多くのフォルダ名は、数字接頭辞の除去などの自動整形だけで処理されます。

設定変更は画面下部の「変更を保存」を押した時点で反映されます。未保存のまま設定画面を閉じた場合、変更は破棄されます。

手動タグが移動前フォルダから生成されるタグと完全に同名の場合、由来を区別できないため、移動時にはフォルダ由来タグとして扱われます。
