Obsidian Mini Tray

Close Obsidian → hide to tray. ~5 KB, zero config.

⚠️ Desktop only. Single-window only. Tested on Windows 10/11.

✨ What it does

ActionResult
Click × (close button)Window hides to tray
Click tray iconToggle show/hide
Right-click tray icon → QuitActually quit

That's it. No settings panel, no hotkeys, no quick notes.

🎯 Why this exists

dragonwocky/obsidian-tray is great — but it's 500+ lines with a full settings UI.

I wanted one thing: the close button should minimize to tray instead of quitting.

📦 Install

Manual

  1. Download main.js and manifest.json
  2. Put them in: .obsidian/plugins/mini-tray/
  3. Restart Obsidian → Settings → Community plugins → Enable Mini Tray
