Flowstate (Obsidian Plugin)

Your handwriting knows
things a keyboard never will
now it's in your vault

Flowstate gets handwritten pages and voice notes into your Obsidian vault, transcribed and formatted and filed exactly where you want them.

Capture on paper, on an e-ink tablet, or by speaking out loud on a brisk morning walk. Flowstate handles the messy workflows in the middle, then your words land in your vault as lovely, searchable plain text.

How it works with Obsidian

Connect your vault through our Obsidian plugin, then set up workflows that match how you want to work. A few examples of what people do:

  • Send your morning pages or journal entries into a dedicated folder, dated and titled automatically
  • Take meeting notes on an e-ink tablet, email it to Flowstate, then get a clean summary and action items formatted as tasks
  • Drop research and reading notes into a dedicated folder, with Flowstate making proactive suggestions for additional books/resources to check out.
  • Send a whiteboard photo straight into a project folder as a clean markdown note
  • Translate all of your handwritten notes into pig latin (hilarious, but not recommended)

You set the rules once. After that it's a single tap from capture to vault.

Capture however you like

  • Snap a photo of a handwritten page
  • Record a voice memo
  • Upload a file or PDF
  • Email notes from your reMarkable, Boox, Supernote, or Daylight to your unique Flowstate address
  • Share text or audio from any app on your phone using our native share extensions for iOS and Android

More than transcription

In addition to transcribing, Flowstate can clean up the formatting, summarize a long entry, translate it, pull out action items, or even write Shakespearean sonnets about your notes.

With custom instructions you can push it further and shape notes however you like. Add custom frontmatter. Tell Obsidian how to interpret and format those custom shorthand symbols you use that look like Egyptian hieroglyphics. Sky's the limit.

Work with other apps

We built Flowstate with Obsidian in mind (because we're both power users), but it also integrates with Notion, Google Docs, and OneNote. If you use any of these other tools for work or collaboration, Flowstate can help you pipe your handwriting and voice transcriptions there, too!

Human-friendly pricing

Start with 50 free credits. One page of handwriting or one minute of audio is one credit. Subscribe for monthly credits that roll over, or grab top-up packs that never expire.

Built by two brothers from other mothers who still write by hand and wanted their pages to live in their favorite app.
