HTML Table Math

Render LaTeX math inside raw HTML table cells for Obsidian.

Obsidian renders $...$ math in regular markdown, but not inside raw HTML tables. This plugin fills that gap: math in <table> cells is rendered with MathJax in both Reading View and Live Preview.

Usage

Write math as you normally would, inside the td / th cells of a raw HTML table:

<table>
  <tr>
    <th>Notation</th>
    <th>Meaning</th>
  </tr>
  <tr>
    <td>$\operatorname{span}(\mathbf{x})$</td>
    <td>$$E = mc^2$$</td>
  </tr>
</table>

Supported delimiters (matching Obsidian's own math):

  • $ ... $ — inline math
  • $$ ... $$ — display math
  • \$ — a literal dollar sign

Everything else in the cell — plain text, escaped $, unbalanced $ — is left exactly as-is.
