Vault Doctor

On-demand health check for your Obsidian config folder (.obsidian/). One button, one dated report. Nothing runs in the background; nothing is ever deleted for you.

demo

Checks

  • Config folder duplicates — numbered conflict copies inside .obsidian/ (workspace 2.json, data 3.json), guarded against false positives.
  • Config folder size — an oversized config folder, broken down per plugin so the culprit is named.

Both are report-only. See policies for what each flags and why.

Use

Run Run diagnosis from the command palette (or the stethoscope ribbon icon). A dated Markdown report is written to your vault root and opened.

Install

  • Catalog: Settings → Community plugins → Browse → "Vault Doctor".
  • Beta (BRAT): add nhomble/obsidian-vault-doctor.
