PDF Exporter
An Obsidian plugin that exports the note you're viewing as a clean, print-ready A4 PDF. I built it to turn CV notes into PDFs without leaving Obsidian.
Features
- Renders the note properly: Markdown, embeds and transclusions are rendered the way Obsidian shows them, and the plugin waits for embeds to load before exporting
- Cleans up the output: frontmatter and
%% comments %%are stripped - Print layout: A4 pages with print styles and sensible heading and section breaks. Put
<break>on its own line to start a new page - True page preview: the preview shows the actual A4 pages, labelled "Page X of N", so you can see exactly where each page splits before saving
- Save straight to PDF: Save PDF opens a save dialog with the note's name already filled in. Print is still there if you want a paper copy
- Ribbon button and a command: Export active note to PDF
Installation
- Download
main.js,manifest.jsonandstyles.cssfrom the latest release, or build the plugin yourself (below). - Copy
main.js,manifest.jsonandstyles.cssinto<your vault>/.obsidian/plugins/pdf-exporter/. - Enable PDF Exporter under Settings → Community plugins.
Desktop only.
Usage
Open a note and click the file-down ribbon icon, or run PDF Exporter: Export active note to PDF from the command palette. Check the pages in the preview, then click Save PDF (or Print).
Development
npm install
npm run build # bundles main.ts into main.js with esbuild
Built with TypeScript, the Obsidian plugin API and esbuild.
